Whereas Walmart offers 59 different 175/70r13 (22.6") tires choices.ġ55/80r13 (22 affordable options Walmart) or 175/70r13 (59 options, but many are out-of-stock) would be the most common 13" tire sizes for small cars. Walmart offers one tire in that size ($163/tire), & it's not a tire I would use on the average road surface. Too much of anything is usually not good, and that can apply to tire width.Īs far as 13" tires being "stupid cheap" - I don't find that to be the case for 205/60r13 tires in my area.

Hydroplaning may become more of an issue, and snow traction would be horrible. When you put a really wide tire on a car like a Mirage, you are reducing the tire's downward pressure on the road. A 165-185 width tire is probably ideal for a Mirage. Since factory tires are either 22.4" or 22.6" outside diameter, a 22.7" tire is no big deal.Ī wider tire on a small lightweight car, however, will reduce your traction. I've thought about dropping to 13 inch rims because 13 inch tires are stupid cheap.Restating the obvious & adding a bit more. Just a FYI for other forum members, 13 inch rims will fit on the 2014-2015 Mirages, not on the 2017 on up. Most of your clearance issues will revolve around rim width and offset. Outside diameter is right around 22.7 inches. I was thinking about going with that size or possibly even 235/70R17 for a little more ride height and clearance but I'm not sure if they will fit without rubbing. It looks like they may fit. Further below it does show the 235/65R17 as an option for the Badlands. I looked at the preliminary specs page linked below but it only shows 225/65R17 as an option for the Big Bend with 17" wheels. I was thinking about going with that size or possibly even 235/70R17 for a little more ride height and clearance but I'm not sure if they will fit without rubbing.

I read the Car and Driver article where the writer asked Ford about max size without lift (30.5") but that was for the Badlands, not the Big Bend. Does anyone know the max size the Big Bend can handle? I have been looking everywhere online to see if there is a max tire size for the Big Bend without any suspension lift/cutting/trimming modifications. I just bought the BS Big Bend and it came with stock 225/65R17 Continental tires but I am looking to upgrade to slightly larger A/Ts. I brought this up in another thread as the OP had stock tires and mentioned upgrading to A/Ts:
